Course Reps

Course Reps are student volunteers, elected for a year to represent the views of their cohort at course-level, in meetings with academic and administrative staff, as well as senior staff.

They are usually the first point of contact for most students in regards to issues, concerns, questions and successes regarding the course they are studying.

Course Reps are the means thorough which students can comment on matters that work and promote the sharing of good practice, as well as provide constructive criticism of things that appear not to be functioning properly. More importantly they offer suggestions on the areas requiring consideration within their course, such as course/degree content, methods of teaching and assessment, workloads, reading lists, resources, teaching space, course delivery methods and feedback.

The ultimate aim is to ensure the continual improvement of the student learning experience which is achieved through effective communication between students, the University and the Students' Union.

Why are Course Reps important?

A Course Rep will play an essential role, as the University depends on the student voice to make changes in the way it is run, with students' needs in mind. Without Course Reps, it grows increasingly difficult for the University to understand what students really care about and what influences the quality of their higher education experience.

Course Reps facilitate students to be partners in learning and will keep them informed about key changes taking place within the University and  their course, as they have first-hand access to that information.

Course Reps will provide an honest view of the teaching and learning quality and help create positive change on your course.
