Hello, my name is Debleena Nandy and I am applying for the position of LUSUMA first-year representative.
As the founder of Kinetica magazine, I welcome my team’s comments and contributions, valuing the importance of appreciating my group’s expertise and continually striving for improvement. I am devoted to this commitment to promoting improvement and inclusivity. Due to this experience, alongside my prior involvement as an anti-bullying ambassador, I more than anyone understand the significance of the student voice and I am dedicated to making sure that we are heard and that the appropriate action is taken to address our suggestions.
I acknowledge that this responsibility will involve communicating and networking with a wide variety of people to ensure a coherent transfer of concerns and relevant information. Given my experience volunteering at a special school and charity shop, I believe I am competent to uphold this obligation. As a volunteer, I manoeuvre around potential speech difficulties and language barriers by catering my communication to their needs. Furthermore, this experience has allowed me to develop a newfound admiration for the power of effective non-verbal communication in validating concerns. I look to display this same level of adaptability and flexibility in my communication as the first-year representative, continuing to validate people’s concerns.
I am equipped with the commitment required to thrive in this role. I am keen to apply my enthusiasm combined with leadership, teamwork and organisational skills to uphold my commitment to this duty.
