Incentives Zone
Elections are held for a variety of roles which help steer the direction of the SU, run campaigns for student communities, represent your academic interests and host student activities. Find out more about those standing by reading their manifestos and our elections booklet
This year we will be incentivising the elections by giving out prizes to voters as we hit voting milestones. You can keep up with the vote count here or via the two additional screens in the SU Square. Find out more about the incentives here
We will be updating the two large physical vote-o-meters in the SU Square as the votes stack up and will be communicating our progress via our social media channels.
This year's prizes are:
250 votes – Chai Latte
500 votes – Doughnut
1000 votes – Varsity rugby ticket
1500 votes – Domino’s pizza
2000 votes – Bungee run on campus (at a later date)
2500 votes – Petting zoo on campus (at a later date)
3000 votes – Rodeo on campus (at a later date)
Aside from the activities planned for a future date (tbc), prizes will be handed out from the Incentives Zone in the SU foyer – apart from Domino’s pizza, which will be handed out in the SU Square.
You can collect prizes from the Incentives Zone in the SU foyer 11.30am – 2.30pm, Monday 17 - Thursday 20 February. The Zone will be staffed during this time. When prizes are not available, you can learn more about the voting incentives and view live votes on screen.
Domino’s pizza will be in the SU Square on Thursday 20 February from 12noon handing out free slices of pizza for students who have voted.
How to claim a prize
To receive a prize, you simply need to show proof of voting – either your voting confirmation email or the screen on www.leicesterunion.com/vote that states you have already voted. You are eligible to keep returning throughout the week to receive the prizes, as long as you can provide your voting confirmation each time. Prizes are given on a first come first serve basis.
Details on how students can vote can be found here (there will also be a video showing students how to vote - available in due course). The candidate booklet, manifestos and podcasts will all be available online in due course.
Students can visit the dedicated Election Helpdesk in the SU Square, 11.30am – 2.30pm – where they can vote, view candidate manifestos, and ask any questions around elections.
We also have a number of incentives for student groups and distance learners.
Student Group Incentives
- Full turnout – Groups that hit 100% voter turnout will be entered into a draw and the two winning Groups will receive £100.
- Highest turnout by number of students – Top five highest voter turnouts by number of students will be put into a draw and the two winning Groups will receive £100.
Distance Learner Incentives
If you are a studying at the University of Leicester via distance learning, you are eligible for all election incentives. If you are unable to make it onto campus, you can still win prizes for voting.
To be in with a chance of winning a £20 Amazon voucher, simply send your voting confirmation email to su-elections@le.ac.uk and you will be entered into the prize draw. Three vouchers are up for grabs.
