University of Leicester Students' Union

Tue 03 March 2020 14:00-15:00

Charles Wilson Belvoir Park Lounge (2nd Floor)

On Tuesday 25 February Student Council met to discuss what the Students’ Union position on the strikes should be. Student Council is a group of individuals democratically elected by you, the student body, to represent your interests. Student Council are the main decision-makers when it comes to approving new ideas and policies within the Union.

Over 65 representatives were present at the meeting including Course Representatives and Students’ Union Representatives, Part Time Officers and Executive Officers.  At the meeting the motion entitled ‘ Student Support for UCU Strikes' was presented which was followed by a wide ranging 45 minute discussion/debate was passed unanimously by those representatives present.

We would encourage as many of you as possible to get involved by attending the first ‘Student Supports the Strikes’ Group meeting that will be taking place on Tuesday 3 March in the Belvoir City Lounge at 2.00pm. At the meeting, we will discuss the implementation of the proposal but there will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have regarding the strikes. If you would like to get involved or have any questions prior to this then email su-exec@le.ac.uk  and a member of the team will be in touch.
