ine humanitarian response\, Professor Sir Ian Diamond will explore the im
portant role a national statistical institute (NSI) plays in informing go
vernment decision-making at the highest level. In doing so\, he will show
case that the UK Statistics Authority strategy\, Statistics for the Publi
c Good\, is at the heart of the radical\, ambitious\, sustainable and inc
lusive work the Office for National Statistics is doing.

strong>Professor Sir Ian Diamond is the UK&rsquo\;s National Sta
tistician. He was the chair of the Social Security Advisory Committee (SS
AC) from August 2018 to August 2019. Sir Ian\, who was knighted in 2013 f
or his services to social science and higher education\, was the Principa
l and Vice Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen until 31 July 2018.\n
