Careers Live Q&A Sessions

We are working with the University's Career Development Service to bring you a variety of live Q&A sessions, covering a range of topics to help you with your next step. These will be running from 28 May - 25 June 2020.

We understand that right now you may need support in: finding opportunities, writing an effective application, interview tips, networking online, creating a great LinkedIn profile and how to transition from student to graduate life.

We wanted to provide careers support in an easy, interactive way so there will be opportunities throughout the sessions for you to ask any questions you may have. This is also a great chance to find out more about what the service can offer and how they can support you throughout your time at university, but also once you graduate. We understand that during the current circumstances you may be feeling even more overwhelmed or uncertain when it comes to careers and your next step, so we hope that you find these helpful and practical.

Thursday 28 May, 3-3.30pm, Microsoft Teams

What Careers Support is Available to Students & Graduates?

This session will be run by your SU President Oge and Tom Ledgard who is the Head of Placements and Graduate Outcomes from the Careers Development team.

This session will be covering:

  • What support is available for you now
  •  How to access support after graduating
  • Online resources for during Covid-19

There will be a 10 minute presentation and then a 20 minute Q&A to ask them both any questions you have.

Planning For Your Next Step After University 

This session will be covering:

  • What to think about when exploring your next step
  • What you can do after University now to plan your next step
  • Building confidence in a challenging labour market
  • Transitioning to graduate life and how to prepare

There will be a 10 minute presentation and then a 20 minute Q&A to ask them both any questions you have.

Creating Great Applications to Secure Experience

This session will be covering:

  • How to make your applications 'stand out'
  • What information you should include
  • Why a tailored application is important
