About the Healthy Body | Healthy Mind Campaign
This year we are using our annual sporting competition Varsity as a tool for positive change. Alongside Varsity (6 – 16 March) Leicester Students’ Union and De Montfort Students’ Union have teamed up to run a joint ‘Healthy Body, Healthy Mind’ campaign to raise awareness of the importance of taking part in regular physical activity and the positive impact this has on both physical and mental wellbeing. The campaign aims to raise awareness and to motivate students across Leicester to get active whilst at university and beyond.
Throughout the Varsity series the campaign will follow the stories of six students across both universities, whose respective involvements in sport vary from inactive to performance sport. As the campaign progresses we will be sharing their sporting journey’s, preparation for Varsity, and how sport impacts their mental wellbeing. You can follow the students’ journeys and the campaign itself on the Students’ Union website and on social media via the #HealthyBody #HealthyMind hashtags.
As Varsity falls across Eating Disorder Awareness Week 2019, we are also using it as an opportunity to fundraise for the Eating Disorder charity Beat, who also supported the development of the sessions. Beat have donated branded t-shirts to be given to the Sports team who fundraise the most money. If you wish to raise money, we have created a JustGiving page here
