January Exam De-stress

 

We fully appreciate that January can be a really stressful time so we are bringing you a week of activities to help keep your stress levels down. Throughout the week we are turning our office in the SU (above Gee's) into a dedicated chillout zone - complete with blankets, cushions, relaxing music and board games.

We have loads of great activities coming up across the two week period:

Monday 6 January - Wednesday 15 January: SU 'Chillout Hub'

Drop into the SU Chillout Hub to unwind with a book, listen to some calming music, do some colouring or get competitive with one our boardgames. 

Venue: Students’ Union Office, above Gee’s Restaurant, 10-4pm.

 

 

Tuesday 7 January: Painting Workshops

Fancy a go at painting? Come and join us for a fun and relaxed session. Feel free to drop in and get stuck in!

Thursday 9 January: Art Therapy Workshop

This is a free workshop which will introduce you to art therapy and its potential benefits to stress and mental wellbeing. This is the perfect time to try something new and a chance for you to relax during a stressful period.

Wednesday 8 January: Cupcake Decorating 

Come and join this session if you fancy decorating your own cupcake. What better way to unwind?

Thursday 9 January: Goodie Bag Giveaway

We'll be giving out free de-stress treat bags on campus! Look out for us and grab yourself a freebie - you deserve it!

Venue: Across campus, 11am-1pm.

This is an opportunity to get your creativity flowing and maybe even try something new. You can give a go at calligraphy, knitting, colouring, cross-stitching or even making your own friendship bracelet! Having a creative outlet has been shown to reduce stress levels so this will help you to relax during a busy exam period.

Venue: Students’ Union Office, above Gee’s Restaurant, 1-2pm.

 

 

Friday 10 January: Meet the Guide Dogs

We're excited to announce that the Guide Dogs are coming back for January!  To book your 10 minute slot with our wonderful furry pals, simply sign in to our website and choose from one of the session times here and bring a £2 donation for the Guide Dogs charity with you on the day.

Friday 10 January: Aromatherapy and Yoga

Whether you consider yourself a yogi or if you've never done yoga before, come and join us for a relaxing session. Allow your body to unwind after a busy week! And breathe...

Why not come and have a hand massage or have henna done by Beauty Refinery? Henna has been shown to relieve headaches, detoxify the body and boost wellbeing. It's all free of charge and you'll feel like a new you!

Wednesday 15 January: Mindfulness Workshop

This workshop will introduce you to mindfulness practice and the potential benefits that regular practice can have for mental performance and wellbeing. If you've practiced mindfulness before or it is something you've never tried, come along and join us. Namaste!
