Welcome to the Black Lawyers Association page!!

The BLA is a society aimed at connecting Black Lawyers. Although we are often underrepresented in the legal field, in the BLA, members can feel like a majority and not a minority. Even if only for a short time.

Our events will be academic as well as social! We will host events like debates and discuss topics such as serious legal matters that affect the black community or laws that disproportionately affect us and what we as aspiring lawyers can do to help whilst on our journey to qualifying and thereafter. We will also run workshops to help compose legal CV’s and applications for vacation schemes, training contracts etc. As a committee we will help educate our members, especially the younger ones on how to take advantage of their status as ‘ethnic students’ in regard to the few scholarships and schemes that are available to us as black law students.

Our society will help you develop professionally, whilst also meeting your social and academic interests. You are always welcome to contact us with suggestions. We can organize events which suit your need! We will also keep you up to date with the latest internships, placements and graduate schemes via newsletter so sign up to our mailing list to the right!
