A very warm welcome to the University of Leicester Student Union Sikh Society Page!

We are the proud winners of the Student Group of the Year 2022 and Student Group Event of the Year 2022 for our Langar on Campus! Langar on Campus winning the Student Group Event of 2022 and 2018

Our society prides itself on being one of the University of Leicester’s oldest religious societies. The University of Leicester’s Sikh society aims to do many things as briefly underlined:

-To create a platform for Sikh students and those who share Sikh values to come together, developing and enhancing knowledge of Sikhism within this.

- For the wider student body and those who are unaware of Sikh beliefs to learn more about the religion through various means such as guest speakers’ intuition.

-To create a family like atmosphere for likeminded students to make friends and enjoy weekly events

-To create a positive impact in the community through charity work

-To foster relationships and close ties with other faith societies to promote diversity as well as greater cultural and religious understanding

Throughout the entirety of the year, the Sikh Society is renowned for hosting some large and highly exciting events throughout the year! From debates and seva with organisations such as MLSS (Midlands Langar Seva Society) and a mixture of socials fit for many. Here you can learn a bit about the society, the committee, upcoming events and membership.

This year we are planning:

  • Interesting and insightful talks into Sikhi explored through various means such as debates, Q&A and guest speakers
