Located on the mezzanine floor of the , the Muslim Prayer Room is open to all students and staff. The Brothers’ prayer room is located immediately to your left, whilst the Sisters’ prayer room is at the end of the corridor on your right. There are separate ablution/wudu facilities for Brothers and Sisters just before the Sisters' prayer room.
Freemen’s Common
We have Brothers’ and Sisters’ prayer rooms in the . When you walk through the main entrance, turn left and then right. Keep following the corridor to the right until you reach the prayer facilities.
There are separate ablution/wudu facilities for Brothers and Sisters opposite their respective prayer rooms.
Maurice Shock
Walk through the main on University Road, and then through the double doors to the left of the lift. Turn immediately left again and you will find the prayer room.
There are ablution/wudu facilities in the female toilets opposite the prayer room and in the male toilets once you walk through the double doors.
There is also a meditation/reflection/prayer corner in the Liberation Room, also accessible to any students via key card.
The host a wide variety of educational, social and spiritual activities and events throughout the year. which contains further information, including: a prayer timetable, details of Jumu'ah Salah (Friday prayers), Ramadan on campus, and useful advice.
Alumni Access
The University of Leicester and University of Leicester Students' Union are very pleased to now be able to offer prayer room access to UoL alumni! Please follow the process outlined below to be granted access:
Send an email to alumni.relations@le.ac.uk to request verification of alumni status along with the following details:
- Full name
- Contact number
- Department
- Access Start Date (When do you need access from?)
- Access End Date (When is access required until? The maximum period of access is until 31st Jan of the next year and will need to be reviewed on that date every year.)
- Attach a passport style image (.jpg)
- Access requirements (i.e. Charles Wilson Prayer Room, Mon-Fri, 24 hours a day)
Once verification has been confirmed the Alumni Office will email Estates and Campus Services (ecs@le.ac.uk) and request an external access card to be printed.
The ECS Office will email you once the card is ready for collection. A card typically takes more than 24 hours to print and can be collected from the ECS Support Office (Fielding Johnson Building (SW Side Entrance) Gate 1, University Road, LE1 7RH) between Monday to Friday between 9am-3.30pm.
