Hi, I’m Edith, and I’m the PGR Officer (re-elect!) for 26/27. I’m a Geography PhD student looking into how people make land use decisions using spatial tools.
Over the past year, I’ve worked to create spaces where PGR voices can be heard, supported campaigns and events that prioritise wellbeing and connection, and ensured that distance-learning PGRs are part of the conversation. I intend to expand this work by building systems that support all PGRs throughout their research journey. As the LGBTQ+ Officer, I want to ensure every LGBTQIA+ student’s voice is heard and acted upon. I aim to be visible and easy to reach, while creating more inclusive, accessible and welcoming spaces. My priorities include working with the Accessibility, International and Ethnic Equity officer to improve student support and expand LGBTQIA+ resources, and promoting sensory-friendly events. I will listen to students, advocate for meaningful change and provide clear updates so our community can see the impact of our work. I decided to become an Accessibility part time officer because I know a lot of students here would like to feel like they belong here. As someone with invisible disabilities myself, I understand challenges that student face- issues that can't be resolved with physical changes. Of course, I aim to help certain areas of the campus be more disability friendly (such as wheelchair accessibilities). As a psychology student - I will also look at mental health and wellbeing for a better journey for students.

The Sustainability Officer represents student views on environmental and sustainability issues across the Students’ Union and the University. They run campaigns to promote sustainable practices, support sustainability-focused student groups, and encourage students to get involved through the Sustainability Council.
