Your Accommodation

Hello from your Accommodation Team!

Coming to Leicester to study might be your first time living away from home. We know you'll have an amazing, memorable time whilst staying in our accommodation, packed with new friends and new experiences. It’s really important to us that you feel at home during your time here. Our halls of residence provide a comfortable, safe and welcoming environment that makes settling into university life so much easier. From the moment you arrive, our teams will be around to help you collect your key, meet new people and get settled in. Residents will be able to take advantage of the events and activities offered by the ResLife Team (@uolreslife) and the services provided by the 24/7 reception and Security Team. This is what makes living in halls different from living in a shared house or private accommodation. We have two main accommodation sites: The Village and The City.

The Village (@uolthevillage) is very popular with freshers with its buzzing social life and wide choice of accommodation making it an excellent place to settle into University life and make new friends. There are eight halls of residence in The Village, each with its own distinctive features and range of room types/prices. We also offer a range of fantastic converted properties - mostly Edwardian villas and lodges, built before the First World War. Each house is unique and each room is different, with amazing features that include wood-panelled walls and secret gardens. The appeal of The Village halls is not just the buildings, but also the amazing amount of green space around them – including the University’s own beautiful Botanic Garden.

All our properties in The City (@uolthecity) are purpose-built blocks within ten minutes’ walk of campus. They’re convenient for the city centre and railway station too, as well as for facilities such as the Library and the Danielle Brown Sports Centre. Most of the rooms are ensuites. All the rooms are self-catered. As well as enjoying social events within The City accommodation, you can get the bus to The Village for all the events and facilities out there. The brand new Freemen’s Common campus opened in September 2022 offers a wide range of modern accommodation for up to 1,200 students, offering the opportunity to accommodate more students in purpose-built accommodation and reduce pressure on more traditional housing stock in the local area. The new residences consist of townhouse-style flats and microflats (ideal for returning students living with us after their first year), standard and premium ensuites, plus self-contained options in single studio flats and one bedroom flats.
