The official University of Leicester Amnesty International Student Division fighting injustice and campaigning for a world where Human Rights are enjoyed by all.
 

Amnesty International is the world’s largest grassroots Human Rights Organisation mobilising people from all around the globe. The University of Leicester Amnesty International Student Division forms a part of a network of Amnesty groups all over the United Kingdom which strives to promote and support Amnesty’s mission of protecting individuals wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied.

The wide array of campaigns we ran in the past include but are not limited to My Body My Rights; Stop Torture, the Refugee Crisis, Abolish the Death Penalty, FGM, etc. From lobbying for the closure of Guantanamo Bay, as well as various different Women’s Rights issues; we have something to offer to everyone!

Amnesty International is an organisation whose efforts lead to evident results. In recent years, following an event on Britain’s role in the Palestine/Israel conflict - our campaigning led to the University adopting HESPAL, offering an annual scholarship scheme to a student from a Palestinian university. Furthermore, our society’s campaigning contributed to the freedom of Albert Woodfox in the US, Phyoe Phyoe Aung in Burma and Yecenia Armenta in Mexico. Just imagine all that we could achieve this year!
