About SCRUBS
Leicester SCRUBS is the Student Surgical Society at the University of Leicester. We aim to support medical students with an interest in surgery at every stage of medical school, from anatomy teaching in Year 1 through to revision sessions and OSCE practice for final-year examinations.
Here at SCRUBS, we are passionate about surgery and strive to provide our members with opportunities to develop their surgical knowledge and skills, explore different surgical specialties, and strengthen their CVs and portfolios.
We offer a range of exclusive benefits to our members, although non-members are also welcome to attend many of our events. Some events may carry a small fee for non-members, while SCRUBS members benefit from discounted rates.
We work in partnership with the Royal College of Surgeons of England and various other organisations and clinical professionals to provide our members with a wide range of opportunities, including:
- Career talks
- Teaching sessions
- Conferences, including opportunities to submit posters, present work, and meet surgeons
- Courses and practical skills sessions
- Mentoring scheme – members can be paired with a clinician and arrange meetings to receive advice and guidance about their future career

- Opportunities to join the committee and contribute to the organisation of future events
