University Of Leicester Cricket Club

The Men’s cricket club is a high performing and well supported club at the University of Leicester. In recent years, the club has been extremely successful in both indoor and outdoor competitions, making us a highly decorated and respected club around the university.

Outdoor Cricket

As we approach the summer, our outdoor season begins. We have 3 teams that compete in the BUCS Midlands leagues, where last year, we saw unbelievable success. Our 1s and 3s both had unbeaten runs in Midlands tiers 2 and 4 respectively, leading to promotions for each side and our 2s finished a well respected 2nd in tier 3.

Indoor Cricket

Through the winter, we have 2 6-a-side teams competing in the BUCS indoor cricket league, where we’ve seen our 2s reach the Northern Championship Qualifier in Sheffield 2 years ago, and our 1s making the national finals in Birmingham for the last 2 years in a row, finishing the campaign with an impressive 4th in the country in 2025. We also compete in 2 indoor varsity fixtures against DMU, in which ULCC won both last year.

Amongst all of the competitive cricket we play, we also have 2 weekly indoor training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings throughout the semesters and plenty of opportunities for players of all abilities to get involved, develop their skills and enjoy the game.

Social

Alongside all of the cricket that is played through the year, we have a social side of the club that has grown to become one of our most valuable aspects. 

We offer themed weekly socials on Wednesday evenings where we all get together and enjoy a nice evening with a group of people who share a similar interests. We offer opportunities to play in other sports, such as our Cricket FC team competing in a university social league on Wednesdays. Furthermore, we have many events through the year such as an alumni dinner, a charity tournament, a tour abroad and much more.

For the last few years, we’ve had upwards of 100 members at the club and we always offer something for everyone. We hold values of respect and dignity with high regard and create an inclusive, welcoming and entertaining environment, developing a real opportunity for all of our members make lifelong friendships.
