Why Join? What do we do?
Climbing
ULMC run regular climbing sessions at Social Climbing and the Tower Climbing Centre in Leicester. We also travel futher afield, with meets in the Peak District, Wales, Lake District and an international trip to enjoy climbing in the sun in Europe. Most members have made great friends climbing together. You'll often find a few of us at Social Climbing any night of the week.
Teaching
Our club has a wealth of experience and are especially keen to pass this on to new members.
Whether you want to improve your bouldering technique, learn to roped climb indoors, or place your own protection and lead traditional climbs on a mountain, we can get you there. Our committee and experienced members look after newer members in workshops, indoor sessions and on outdoor trips. There is always someone ready to help make sure you're safe and answer any questions.
Social
The club run fortnightly socials, film nights, meals, and unique events like our Ninja Warrior trip, end-of-year ball and the famous 'roped-up' social. Although some of us enjoy a drink, quite a few of our members don't. We're proud that this doesn't exclude them from having fun or attending any of our events.
Adventure
If you want, ULMC will equip you with the skills to explore the outdoors. Not everyone has experienced overnight stays in huts or camping under the stars before, but there are plenty of opportunities to do so. By spending time with the club, you'll learn to pack and dress for the weather, read maps and maybe even how to wield an ice axe!
Competition
For those looking to compete, we run friendly bouldering competitions and compete in BUCS in addition to beating DMU in the annual Varsity climbing competition. Specific coaching sessions are available to the competition team to help them achieve their full potential.

Registration
To join ULMC, you need a Club Membership and a Team Leicester Membership.
A Club Membership is £35
A Team Leicester Membership is £116 on it's own, but is included with the Gold Gym membership for £173 (early bird) / £208 or a termly gym membership for £104 per term.

This may seem expensive, but so is all the equipment, insurance and training needed for outdoor climbing. The club has all the expensive climbing gear you need, so you can come climbing without spending your entire student loan on gear.
At the start of the year, we run taster sessions so you can decide whether you like us before paying any membership fees!
