What’s involved?

Museum Object-based Mindfulness Training is a six-week course that aims to explore how engagement with museum objects may be used to teach the key practices, concepts and attitudes of mindfulness.

But before we launch the six-week course, we’re asking you for your feedback!

Join one (or several!) co-design workshops in which you will first be invited to take part in one of the six Museum Object-based Mindfulness Training sessions (approx. 1-hour) before having the opportunity to give your feedback in a focus group immediately after (approx. 30 minutes).

Who can participate?

On-campus students at the University of Leicester who are 18-years or older and who do not have a clinically diagnosed mental health condition or are not aiming to address a recent trauma or loss.

When?

From 12pm-2pm on the following dates:

10th of March, 17th of March, 24th of March, 28th of April, 5th of May, 12th of May.

Where?

Gee’s, Ground Floor of the Percy Gee Building, University of Leicester, University Rd, LE1 7RH.

Why participate?

·       Learn foundational mindfulness practices and key concepts.

·       Get hands on with an exciting array of arts and heritage objects.

·       Contribute to the design of an exciting, novel student well-being intervention.

·       A £5 gift card ‘thank you’ payment.

Content warning

The sessions will involve discussions of mental health challenges which could prove distressing. Engagement with both museum objects and mindfulness practices may cause emotional discomfort. A safeguarding protocol has been established to support participants.
