The University of Leicester Pakistan Society aims to celebrate and promote Pakistan’s rich and diverse cultures, heritage, languages, arts, history, traditions and contemporary society.

We provide a welcoming, inclusive and accessible community for students of all nationalities, cultures, faiths and backgrounds. Through cultural, social, educational, charitable and networking activities, we aim to bring together British Pakistani students, international Pakistani students and the wider University community; foster friendship, belonging and unity; and celebrate the regional, ethnic, linguistic and cultural diversity found within Pakistan and the Pakistani diaspora.

We also aim to encourage cultural exchange and greater understanding of Pakistani identities and experiences, represent the interests and perspectives of Pakistani students, and provide members with opportunities to develop friendships, confidence, leadership skills and professional connections. Alongside this, we encourage respectful and informed discussion of Pakistani politics and current affairs and contribute positively to the wider community through volunteering, fundraising, humanitarian initiatives and collaboration with other student groups and organisations.

Whether you are Pakistani, connected to Pakistan or simply interested in learning more, everyone is welcome.

Pakistan is home to an incredible diversity of cultures, languages, traditions, music, food and history and PakSoc is here to celebrate all of it.

Our aim is to create a welcoming community where students can meet new people, build lasting friendships and feel a genuine sense of belonging. Whether you are Pakistani, connected to Pakistan or simply interested in learning more about the culture, everyone is welcome.

Throughout the year, look out for cultural celebrations, qawwali and open-mic nights, chai, games, movie nights, dinners, cricket, educational activities, charity initiatives and plenty more 

PakSoc is a society shaped by its members, so you will also have opportunities to share ideas, volunteer at events and help our community grow.

MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS

STANDARD MEMBERSHIP — £5 FOR THE WHOLE YEAR

Available to all current University of Leicester students.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP — £10 FOR THE WHOLE YEAR

Available to alumni and anyone who is not currently a University of Leicester student.

As a member, you can:

• Access discounted member tickets for selected events

• Meet new people and join our welcoming community

• Take part in cultural, social, educational and charitable activities

• Share ideas, volunteer and help PakSoc grow

Please note that, under Students’ Union rules, associate members cannot vote in society elections or stand for a committee position.
