With a day of extemely strong winds, we experienced an eventful Northampton Head of the Nene this year. With our members rowing as part of Leicester Rowing Club, 28 crews battled through the wind our first head race of 2024.
Out of the 28 crews entered, 21 placed in the top 3 of their categories - bringing home an incredible 10 event wins.
With university rowers we saw the following results:
Barney Allen in the Op 1x (Band 1) - 1st
Callum Wray & Barney Allen in the Op 8+ (Band 2) - 1st
Lucy Blase in the W 1x (Band 3) - 1st
Barney Allen in the Op 4- - 2nd
Victoria Barker in the W 1x (Band 3) - 2nd
Lucy Blase in the W 4x (Band 1) - 2nd
Ben Barker & Callum Wray in the Op 4+ - 3rd
Out of the 18 boat clubs racing over during event, LRC finished 1st in the overall rankings, taking home the Victor Ludorum trophy for this years event.
