For over 2000 students Wednesdays are all about one thing, sport. Team Leicester is the University’s competitive sport programme which unites our 37 clubs under one banner. From Football to Ultimate Frisbee, Netball to Mountaineering we have a whole host of clubs who want to make you part of their family.
Student Group Sports
We don’t just have Team Leicester sports. We have a range of active sports-related Student Groups, that provide great opportunities to engage in sporting activities and meet like-minded people.
Join the Leicester Academy
It’s perfect for those of you looking to really enhance your CV. Through the programme you’re able to gain coaching or officiating qualifications in a sport of your choice at a subsidised cost. You will then be able to put these new found skills to the test whilst volunteering in local primary schools, gaining experience in a real working environment acting as an ambassador for your University.
Let’s Do Leicester
This project aims to ensure everybody has a chance to participate in sport whilst at University. With a new schedule for each semester you’ll have the opportunity to try out a whole host of sports, from Netball and Basketball to Bubble Football and Yoga. Let’s Do Leicester is perfect for those looking to get active at a low cost and much more casually than our competitive programmes.
Not only is Let’s Do Leicester a great way of trying out something new, you can also get involved and earn money through being one of their Sports Activators which means you’ll actively promote and help deliver the programme.
Intramural Sport
Our intramural sport programme is fantastic for those looking for regular competitive sport in a more relaxed environment than Team Leicester. With current leagues for Football, Netball, Basketball, Futsal and Cricket you’ll be able to play year round against other students at the University. With hundreds of students already involved in the programme it’s the perfect way to meet new people, you can even set up your own team and enter a league with friends.
