Hi I’m Gabriel (Giezl) Hernandez and I’m a first year LLB Law student.
I’m applying for Interfaith Network Representative because faith is important to one’s identity and connections. Although I grew up religious, I understand the importantance of empathy, an open mind and a sense community.
I have past experiences as a student council member in my sixth form leadership committee. This helped me develop my team work, organisation and interpersonal communication skills.
If I’m elected for this role, my main goal is to encourage interfaith dialogue. This means I will attempt to implement cooperation, discussions and positive interactions between people of different religious traditions, spirituality or humanistic beliefs - at both the individual and institutional level.
Another goal of mine would be to stay in touch with committee members of faith-based societies, in order for such voices/opinions to be included in the student’s union.
Furthermore, society is currently faced with lots of division. Therefore, harmony, faith and diversity are areas that I’m very passionate in developing and further improving.
To conclude, if you also agree with encouraging interfaith dialogue in the university; or you’re a person of faith wanting your voice to be heard within the student’s union, please vote for me as your Interfaith Network Representative.
