As an undergraduate I was the trans representative of one of the country's largest LGBTQ+ societies organising weekly events, providing welfare support to the trans community and consulting on university policy. I also have experience working in an SU as the co-chair of the women's campaign where I wrote SU policy and was a member of student council. Alongside the committee I managed I helped to vastly increase engagement and ran several successful campaigns inclduing those on reproductive justice and combatting transmisogyny.
I would love the opportunity to bring my experience to Leicester SU to help address the issues that the trans community here faces. I am a first year graduate student so I will do my best to reach out to the trans community and understand their needs. In particular I will work to ensure that any policies and actions pursued serve the communities most affected by transphobia and its intersections such as TPOC, trans sex workers and those who experience transmisogyny.
