Black Excellence Gala

Join us on the 1st of June 2023 to celebrate Black Excellence at the O2 Academy.

We will be hosting an awards ceremony for our Black University of Leicester students. Food will be provided by Grounded Kitchen and we will be having the guest speaker, Kevin Osei from Bridging Barriers, plus DJ KWAMZ Original will be providing the music.

As a majority- BAME student population, it is important that we celebrate the achievements of our Black students. Studies have shown the recognition of student success directly impacts the overall grade progression of university students. 

If the University of Leicester is committed to providing an inclusive-learning environment for all students, we must spend the time to recognise their achievements.

However, as important as it is to celebrate excellence, our Black students deserve a night to unwind and celebrate the end of the academic year. At Leicester Students' Union, we believe in the importance of community which is why we wanted to extend the invitation to our university students across the UK.
