We are seeking to recruit Lead Mentors in each School; in larger schools, we may have more than one Lead Mentor to share the responsibilities. You will be there to support the Mentors & Mentees within their school and help them with any issues.

Lead Mentors will

  • Create, organise, run and evaluate event(s) for the Mentors and Mentees in their school
  • In conjunction with College Reps, deliver a welcome induction talk, including providing tips and guidance to students within their school
  • Act as an ambassador for the scheme promoting the positive nature of the scheme to ensure people are fully aware of how it operates and what it does.
  • Assist in administration duties required to successfully deliver the scheme, including with the matching process.
  • Answer or forward any email enquiries from the Mentors in their school.
  • Assist in the training of Peer Mentors.
  • Carry out promotional work including lecture shoutouts and supervision of promotional stalls in and around the University and Union.
  • Provide support for events to include Welcome Week and Meet Your Mentor events.
  • Liaise with academic staff, Union staff and invested stakeholders to ensure the scheme is working effectively and our Mentees are receiving the appropriate support.

In addition, as a Student Staff member within the Union you will on an ad-hoc basis be invited to help out with additional Students’ Union Projects, this will include at times covering the Students’ Union Reception Desk.

We are seeking individuals with exceptional communication and administration skills who have a keen eye for detail. You will ideally have a good knowledge of the Peer Mentoring System and be able to effectively liaise with a wide variety of students.

If you have any questions regarding the role, please get in touch with Ian Bruce at irb2@le.ac.uk.

Interviews will take place in the week commencing 2 June either on Teams or in-person and full training for the role will be provided.
