curriculum consultancy

The Students’ Union (SU) is very excited to announce, in collaboration with the Leicester Learning Institute (LLI), our new Curriculum Consultancy project as part of #LeicsDecolonise. This is a paid opportunity for students to help us oversee the project as well as work with academics in co-contributing to developments in our curriculum so that it is more inclusive, representative of our lived experiences, particularly that of students of colour and students from marginalised backgrounds, and that we are able to build a curriculum that is relevant and empowers students to be active citizens of change both during and after their time at the University of Leicester.

To help us facilitate this,we are also looking to recruit up to 20 curriculum consultants (open to first and second year undergraduate students as well postgraduate taught students) to work on individual course level projects alongside academics, developing action plans to decolonise the curriculum, in time for these to be implemented for the next academic year. Once projects are completed, students will be provided with a financial reward (£250) as well as a certificate of acknowledgment. We will also be providing training on concepts such as decolonisation, how to push for change as well how to best utilise the partnerships you will be forming. Applications are open until Tuesday 19 January, for more details or to apply click here

As well as this, we are looking to hire three paid part-time student interns (open to all students) to oversee and support the consultants, as well as report back to the Student Voice manager and a steering group overseeing projects to do with inclusivity and decolonising the curriculum. Applications are open until 12 noon on Wednesday 13 January for more details of the roles including how to apply click here

All of this will form the curriculum strand of the #LeicsDecolonise campaign and ultimately feed in to the SU’s long-term goal of decolonising education. If there are any questions about this project or the roles, then please feel free to email either Ian Bruce, SU Voice Manager (irb2@le.ac.uk), Adnan Rahman, SU Education Officer (ar512@le.ac.uk) or Frances Deepwell/Stephen Rooney from the LLI (sgr3@le.ac.uk).

We look forward to welcoming and working with you all!
