ULLAX held their first Charity Bingo raising money and awareness for Mind charity. The Bingo Night took place on Monday 12th November 2018 at the Loaded Dog, Leicester. The Night was a success with over 75 people coming and £285 for the amazing work Mind charity do for better mental health for everyone.
ULLAX held their first Charity Bingo raising money and awareness for Mind charity. The club took a vote at the beginning of October to decide which charity they would be supporting for the year. The club voted for Mind Charity and works to raise money began. Two members of the club, Rowena Maitland and Beatrice Andrews, ran the Leicester half Marathon on 14th October 2018, they faced the rain and was able to raise £115 for Mind.
To continue raising money for Mind, the committee unanimously voted for the first charity event to be a Bingo Night. so preparation began to hold the event on Monday 12th November 2018, 7pm at the Loaded Dog, Leicester. The Facebook event was widely shared and a lot of interest was gathered for the event. Prizes were donated, including five vouchers from Pho restaurant, Leicester!
Having only planned for a maximum of 60 guest to arrive the night was a huge success with over 75 people coming. 5 games of bingo was played with prizes for the person to first achieve the four corners and the first person to achieve the whole bingo card. the bingo callers; Abbie Katsande, Jordan Bojitchov and Rebecca Bower, for the night did an amazing job - they had all the bingo lingo. During a 30-minute break the first round of the raffle was called with winners grabbing prizes of chocolate and bubbly. before the end of the night some information about Mind was shared and everyone was encouraged to use the services available especially found on their website https://mind.org.uk 'Mind is great for those looking for help whilst dealing with mental health, they have resources for those supporting others or even if you want to speak to and encourage others.' the final raffle was called, and a vote of thanks was shared; publicity and charity secretary of the club shared her thanks to the all who came, the lacrosse club, Mind charity, the loaded dog, the Team Leicester clubs that supported as well as her friends and family.
The next day all the money was counted, a total of £285 was raised and sent to Mind through the Students Union.
