On Wednesday 4th February 2026, it was a normal practice night for us. We didn't have any additional helpers this particular night. What we did have was 6 dedicated students (two of whom have learnt to ring with us from scratch in under six months).
As a result, we recorded the first length of ringing by an all student band, from the Universities of Leicester, in over 20 years.
Here's the performance: https://bb.ringingworld.co.uk/view.php?id=1932877
This may seem like a small step, but for us it's a big achievement and all achievements are celebrated. We are proud of the students and their commitment and perseverance with learning to ring, and their continued enthusiasm as they progress with their ringing journeys! We also recognise the effort and commitment from those of us (and helpers) involved in teaching the student ringers from scratch, so well done and thank you to all involved!
We have a lot to look forward to, including more all-student ringing!
If you're reading this and have wondered what bell ringing is or want to discover a new hobby, get in touch with us or simply come along on a Wednesday! We'd love to have you and teach you, you will be made very welcome!
