On Saturday 15th November, LUSCR attended the NUA which was hosted by Nottingham @uonbellringing this year. It's the big event that we've had in the first semester of 2025/2026, and the first time we've been in attendance in 25 years!
The day started with us ringing at All Saints (10, 16-1-13) which was a good opportunity for some members to get their first tower grab in Nottingham, and for some their first new tower other than St Mary de Castro, Leicester!
Then we walked into Nottingham city centre via the Christmas winter wonderland market. We had an enjoyable lunch and a chance to socialise.
Our next tower was St Mary's (12, 35-2-23), a good opportunity for some ringers to experience ringing on 12 bells for the first time. Although they're a heavier set of bells, the ringing room and the view from the top of the tower was pleasant!
Our third and final tower of the day was St Peter's (12, 22-2-5) which was also the location of the striking contest. We didn't quite have enough people from Leicester to enter the contest but we did collaborate with @luscr_leeds and entered as LUSCR! A good experience for some of our ringers to take part in their first striking competition and good that we entered our first contest as a society since we restarted!
We ended the day with dinner, drinks, dancing and games with the other societies in attendance at the NUA. A very enjoyable day overall, and we look forward to future ringing trips both as a society and also the NUA in 2026!
