Student Group Membership Disclaimer
The University of Leicester Students’ Union aims to faciltate all students participating safely in the activities of our Student Groups throughout the 2020/2021 academic year. As part of this, we want to ensure that all students are aware of their responsibilities to follow University of Leicester and Leicester Students’ Union Covid-19 guidelines.
By paying membership to and/or participating in a Student Group’s Activity you are agreeing to follow the University of Leicester’s Covid-19 guidelines found at https://le.ac.uk/coronavirus/information-for-students and any future University of Leicester Students' Union guidelines.
Please Note: Your information will be used to contact you for Test and Trace purposes.
Each Student Group will have activity-specific Covid-19 guidance closer to the start of term. As these are published, they will be emailed directly to the email address associated with the account you made this purchase on.
Failure to follow these guidelines could lead to a suspension of your membership in line with the Student Discipline Matrix as a concern of Health and Safety.
Note regarding Student Group Activity
This is an excerpt from the email sent 02/11/2020 to all students from Professor Graham Wynn, Pro Vice Chancellor for Student Experience;
"In accordance with Government guidelines, social gatherings outside your household are not permitted in any form for the length of the national lockdown. This means that, from Thursday, student groups and societies, including sports societies, will no longer be able to hold in-person meetings or events of any size, and University-organised extra-curricular in-person activities and events will no longer be able to take place. We understand how disappointing this will be, and we are currently exploring what additional digital activities we can organise and put in place for you."
From Thursday 05/11/2020 onwards, no in-person events or activities can take place for any Societies or Sports Clubs.
In light of this update, we must also reiterate the consequences of failure to comply with the Covid-19 regulations:
- For restrictions set by UK Law, any individuals and/or groups found breaking them can face fines of up to £10,000 alongside University disciplinary action.
- For restrictions set by the University and Students’ Union on group activity, groups that are found to be breaking the guidelines will undergo an investigation and face possible disciplinary action in line with the Student Conduct Matrix
