The University of Leicester Motorsport and Karting society is a group for those who love the world of racing. Whether you race cars, bikes, karts, sim-race or just love watching the sport, this is the society for you. We are an inclusive and friendly society who’s main goal is for it’s members to have fun.
We hold a number of social kart races throughout the year where we race at Sutton Circuit in Leicester. This is a competitiive and friendly environment where racers of all abilities are welcome. The social championship generally consists of about 6 rounds which take place throughout the year. Who will be crowned champion this year?
Our main competition is the British Universities Karting Championship which has a number of different experience based competitions, so whether you’re a complete novice or a seasoned Kart racer, you can get behind the wheel. The karts used in the BUKC are the best arrive and drive karts in the UK. Capable of accelerating from 5-60 in 4.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 70mph, you will not forget your first time in a 2-stroke kart. Teams consist of 4 drivers. Last year we had three teams who represented the uni in the chamionship. All of this comes at a fraction of the cost of what you would pay outside of the University.
If you aren't into racing but love cars you can join us for a variety of other social events including F1 pub watching and going to professional racing events.
Through our light hearted ethos and our togetherness as a society we hope to achieve great things in the upcoming season and we look forward to meeting you!
