Welcome to SWOLO – the University of Leicester’s Swimming and Water Polo Club! Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer, an aspiring athlete, or just looking for a fun and active social group, we’ve got something for everyone.
We offer:

Swimming Lessons (Let's Do Leicester):
8 lessons for £28 (no gym membership needed). Open to all students.

Development Squad:
For swimmers aiming to improve or compete in events like Varsity & BUSL. No trials. 3–5 sessions/week.

BUCS Squad (Performance Squad):
Competitive squad for elite university swimmers. Trials required. Must train at least 3x/week. Max 18 swimmers (9 men, 9 women).

🤽 Water Polo:
New to the sport or a seasoned player? No problem!
We have both Men’s and Women’s Water Polo Teams, welcoming all skill levels – from beginners to experienced athletes. We train hard, play harder, and compete in BUCS Midlands league. In our sessions we work on an array of technical skills, fitness and game play. Polo players are also able to attend swimming sessions too to get more practice in. The game is tremendous fun and an amazing opportunity of building a close-knit team of friends at Uni! While still being a great workout and highly rewarding!

Socials!
It’s not all work and no play, though! Our Social Secretaries ensures that there is a range of social events throughout the year. We have Weekly Wednesday fancy dress socials with bar crawls/pub golf or team pre-drinks at our local pub ending up at the 02 for Letsdisko! Along with team meals every term and various other activities, including pub quizzes, summer BBQs and non-drinking activities such as bowling. At BUCS weekends, our Social Secretaries ensures we have a blast by organising social activities alongside the gala, including a team meal; trust us, it’s not one to be missed! During the Easter break, we often also take Swimming and Water Polo on a team holiday; previous years have included places such as Croatia!!
Charitable Fundraising:
This year we will be raising money for the charity PAPYRUS, having raised over £1000+ for both CRY and Mind in the past 2 years!! We do this over an array of events throughout the year from our SWOLO Charity Alumni Ball, a Swimathon, bake sales and a charity Water Polo match! Our charity this year PAPYRUS is a UK charity for the prevention of young suicide.
