Our Club
Basketball is one of the biggest sports on campus, and the city of Leicester itself. With a BBL team, the Leicester Riders, sitting in the heart of the city, basketball is a key part of the city's culture. The University has a strong relationship with its sport especially basketball. We are a strong and tightly knit club with a great ethos and relationship between its members. Becoming part of the club is a great chance for you to meet new friends and socialise and of course play the sport we all love!
This year promises to be one of the most exciting seasons in recent memory with plans to increase our membership and basketball offering immensely. Whilst we already have have 3 Men's teams and 1 Women's team all competing across in the midlands in a range of BUCS leagues, we will also be recruiting for a large number of development teams, all of which will compete in the newly restructured Campus League (formerly Intramural). The development teams will offer a pathway for new players to work their way up to either our Performance Development team (Men's 3rd) or Performance teams (Women's 1st and Men's 1st and 2nd).
Both team leicester memberships and club memberships are required to be able to play for the men's and women's teams Bucs teams but only a club membership is required to play in the Campus League.
The best part of this club is that there is something for everyone; whether you are brand new to the sport or consider yourself the next MJ. Join our page today and discover all the brilliant things that the University of Leicester Basketball Club has to offer!
