Interested in escaping from the city? Want to exercise and socialize in the great outdoors? Then come and join the team of friendly, out-going and passionate people at the University of Leicester Mountaineering Club. We strive to make our members feel included no matter whether you have done climbing before. Every abilty is welcome; even if you have never had the opportunity to try it, we can show you the ropes!
Our club prides itself on its experience, amount of equipment and ultimately our regular outdoor climbing trips all over the country which, like the rest of us, will give you plenty of fond memories and stories about your time at Leicester. Taking you from as north as the Isle of Skye, to as south as El Bahira, Sicily!

Coaching:
We have a wealth of experienced and knowledgeable members to help you progress. We run regular training sessions at Social Climbing and The Tower Climbing Centre in Leicester. To complement our weekly sessions we run regular outdoor climbing trips all over the country, including the Lake District, the Peak District, Wales and Portland, where you can climb some real rock and experience the social side of the club. These can run as day trips or overnight stays where we either camp or stay in huts.
Competition
While there is no pressure to be competitive in the club, we do cater for all levels of competitive spirit, from a relaxed inter-club bouldering competition, to more serious competitions such as BUCS. However, the highlight of the competitive calendar is the Varsity climbing competition against De Montfort University, where we enjoy beating our rivals!
Social:
As well as socialising in the hut or campsite after a hard day's climbing at the weekends, we also organise fortnightly socials including the famous roped-up social and the end of year ball. We also incorporate meals out as a club and film nights into the social calendar, so there is something for everyone to enjoy! This year we also plan to continue other fun socials such as the Ninja Warrior trip which was a great hit!

Training Schedule:
Tuesdays: 18:30 onwards - bouldering at Social Climbing Centre, Leicester City centre, Highcross. (meet outside O2 ticket office 18:30)
Wednesdays: 13:15 onwards - roped climbing at The Tower Climbing Centre, Beaumont Leys. (meet at the climbing house)
