Welcome to the Autism Society! ~ The Society for Autistics, by Autistics

The Autism Society is a social society founded with three main goals in mind:

1. Provide an open, easily-accessible space for autistic students to socialize in an otherwise overstimulating university environment
2. Allowing autistic students to connect and share common interests in a zero-pressure group setting
3. Create a supportive environment outside of the classroom for autistic students that can aid in making university life smoother

Other Neurodiversities are welcome!

 

Some Activities the Group Hosts:

• Weekly get-togethers in the evenings - Both Virtual through our Discord and In-Person opportunities depending on the week
  • During these get-togethers club members engage in a variety of activities such as 
    • Board games
    • Humorous presentation night 
    • JackBox/Other Collaborative Party events
    • Arts + Crafts
• Group trips to Leicester
  • These outings may be as simple as going to get groceries, or exploring the town 
  • Museum trips
  • Visits to the local shops
  • Going out to eat
  • Playing out in Victoria Park
• Compiling a variety of resources on succeeding as an autistic in university (+beyond!)
• Providing support for one another - both in person, and online

We know getting outside of our accommodations can be daunting on our own as Autistics, especially if it deviates from our normal schedules. Having organized activities like this will help us bond and gain a better sense of independence as we transition into adulthood
