Role Descriptions

Executive Officers 

There are five Executive Officer roles that are open for election, a summary of each of the roles are oulinted below, to access a detailed role description click on the title of each of the roles.

Liberation Officer

  • To be the primary Union representative on all matters relating to equality, diversity and liberation
  • Campaign and run events in relation to equality and liberation
  • To lead on widening participation activities of the Union

Sports and Societies Officer

  • Work closely with student groups and sports clubs to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Work to increase participation in sport and societies by tackling barriers that students face and developing the student group pathway.
  • Work with the University to help shape the direction of sport and the arts at Leicester.

Community and Wellbeing Officer

  • Represent our students in relation to their health and wellbeing.
  • Be responsible for co-ordinating the environmental sustainability strategy of the Union.
  • To oversee the development of student volunteering, fundraising & employability.

President

  • Coordinate the strategic direction of the Union as leader of the Executive Team
  • Run campaigns on issues that affect students and oversee the democratic structures of the Union. 
  • Line manage the Chief Executive and act as the head trustee on our board

Education Officer

  • Promote the academic interest of students in University policy meetings
  • Work to develop the Academic Representation system
  • Be the main point of contact for Course Representatives

 

Part-Time Officers

Trans and Non-Binary Officer

  • Being the key contact for Trans and Non-Binary students and circulating resources
  • Running appropriate campaigns specific to Trans and Non-Binary students
  • Organising and co-chairing the LGBT+ Network

Accessibility Officer

  • Campaigning for an accessible Union by championing inclusion and accessibility
  • Providing resources for students about support they can receive
  • Organising and chairing the Accessibility Network

 

Distance Learning Officer

  • Campaigning for a positive student experience for distance learning students
  • Be responsible for communication to distance learning students
  • Enhancing the sense of belonging for distance learning students

 

Ethnic Equity Officer

  • Providing students with information and advice about discrimination and racism
  • Celebrating different ethnic groups by running events and campaigning
  • Organising and chairing the Ethnic Equity Network

 

International Officer

  • Supporting international students with integrating into university life and Leicester
  • Co-ordinating campaigns to represent international students’ interests
  • Organising and chairing the International Network

 

LGBT+ Officer

  • Being the key contact for LGBT+ students within the Union and sharing resources 
  • Celebrating the LGBT+ community at the university by running events
  • Organising and co-chairing the LGBT+ Network

 

Mature and Part-Time Officer

  • Regularly talking and listening to Mature and Part-Time students at the University
  • Being responsible for communication to Mature and Part-Time students
  • Representing the interests of all Mature and Part-Time students

 

Postgraduate Officer

  • Representing the interests of all Postgraduate students
  • Regularly talking and listening to Postgraduate students at the University of Leicester
  • Being responsible for communication to Postgraduate students

 

Sustainability Officer

  • Encouraging students to engage with sustainability within the Union
  • Conducting campaigns to lobby and enhance sustainability within the Union
  • Supporting student groups related to sustainability with campaigns and projects

 

Women’s Officer

  • Being the key contact for Women within the Union and providing resources to them
  • Running appropriate campaigns specific to female students
  • Organising and chairing the Women’s Network
