The UoL Concert Band is a fun and friendly ensemble which invites all musicians to perform your favourite music in a relaxed and welcoming envirnoment.
We rehearse every Tuesday 7-9pm on campus and aim to showcase our work at multiple performances a year, such as our end of term concerts and our campus Christmas events.
From September 2024, we are moving from our traditional rehearsal venue - we will be able to confirm our new on campus venue soon, so we'd recommend you go and follow our instagram page to stay up to date.
We play music of varying difficulty, ranging from traditional repertoire to scores of stage and screen. Everyone is welcome, though we do recommend players are able to read music to ensure you get the most out of our group! If you're not sure of your ability; come along and have a go - we can always adapt parts to suit you.
Our group is a Concert Wind Band; principally for those who play woodwind, brass and percussion. Not sure whether your instrument is suitable for a concert band? Feel free to get in touch and ask us which ensemble is best for you!
We do also love to socialise, so will often go out after rehearsals and on weekends. Previous socials have included the likes of;
- Mini Golf, Bowling, Go-Karting,
- Dessert nights, Pizza socials, pub
- Trips to see the Leicester Philharmonia Orchestra (and others) in concert at De Montfort Hall,
