What is Freemasonry?

Freemasonry is one of the oldest social and charitable organistaions in the world.
It originates from the traditions of medieval stonemasons, who at the time built castles and cathedrals.

Freemasonry is about helping individuals be the best they can be. There are four important values for Freemasons, which are:

  • Integrity - building their character and supporting others in achieving this.
  • Friendship - providing a foundation to create and develop friendships.
  • Respect - the organisation brings together people regardless of their background.
  • Service - making a positive contribution to society.

Freemasons are one of the largest charitable givers in the country. In 2020, the organisation gave £51.1 million to deserving causes.
