This group is for members of the University of Leicester SEG Chapter. We are awaiting official SEG re-affiliation, but we are beginning regular events as a mineral-based society.
Follow this group to be informed of talks, trips and other events that we will be hosting throughout the academic year. The Leicester University Society of Economic Geologist's (SEG) Chapter is an active, student run, academic society that hosts regular talks by external speakers from industry and academia, plus lectures from members of the geology department.
We organise field trips to places of interest to economic geology, with past trips including to Minffordd Quarry in North Wales (accompanied of course by a visit to an a subterranean trampoline in the Llechwedd Slate Caverns) and our amazing trip to Romania looking at Cu and Cu-Ag porphyry deposits, mud-logging techniques and hydrothermal springs with Transgex SA. Last year we went to Treak Cliff cavern in the Peak District.
Make sure to join our society, and we will soon be setting up social media accounts to follow!
