Voting is Now Closed 

To vote in the elections, ensure you are logged in as a student and click on green vote now button, for detailed instructions of how to vote click here, this will open in a new tab so that you are able to follow through the steps, they are also included at the bottom of this page.

When you do vote you are asked to rank the candidates in order of preference putting a 1 next to your first choice, a 2 next to your second choice. You are able to vote for as many or few positions and candidates as you wish, for further details of how the voting system works click here

 

Voting Instructions

Prior to voting we would recommend that you have read through the candidates manifestos or view our 200 words election booklet by clicking here. Once you are ready to vote click on the green ‘Vote Now’ button, full instructions on how to vote is available beneath this button.  If the ‘Vote Now’ button isn’t visible then firstly ensure that you are logged in, using your student username and password, if you are still experiencing problems email su-elections@leicester.ac.uk . 

To vote follow the instructions below:-

  1. If you aren’t already logged in then click on the ‘login’ button on the top right of the screen, then click on ‘Log In’ under Student Login’ and then if required come back to www.leicesterunion.com/vote
  2. Click on the Green Vote Now button in the election.
  3. Tick the boxes that apply to you within the Profile tab (Eligibility screen), by self identifying in the relevant category this will enable you to vote for the Ethinic Equity Officer, Women’s, LGBT+, Trans and Non Binary Officer, International and Mature and Part Time Officer Elections.
  4. Then click on Vote Tab (with a ballot icon on it)
  5. You can either
    1. Click on Start Voting and then you will be able to vote for each position within the election
    2. Underneath this you will be presented with a list of positions you are eligible to vote for, either click on the position you wish to vote. 
  6. You are asked to rank the candidates in order of preference before choosing ‘No further preferences’. We utilise the Single Transferrable Voting system and therefore you second, third, further choices etc… can be important in determining who wins the election.
  7. You will then be asked to review your Preferences before choosing ‘Cast Vote’ if you are happy or ‘Back to Ballot’ if they you wish to change their vote.
  8. You will then be presented with the next position that you are eligible to vote for or you can repeat steps 4 to 7 if you wish to pick which position you would like to vote for.
  9. You do not need to vote for all the positions, once you have cast your vote for all the roles you wish to vote for then you are able to leave the voting page. Please note it is possible to return prior to the close of voting if you wish at a later stage to vote for additional roles/positions.
  10. You will receive an email to thank you for each vote that you cast, this can be used to claim relevant election incentives.
