Name, pronouns, officer role: Edith Malemba, She/Her, PGR Officer

How do your best friends describe you? Outgoing, ambitious, hardworking, welcoming and encouraging/supportive.
What inspired you to become a PTO? I wanted to ensure that PGR’s have as much support as they need to succeed in their research. Being aware of and engaging with SU activities is a first step to accessing this support, and I would like to bring this closer to PGR’s.
What can you offer students in your role? I intend to be a primary contact for PGR’s and SU, bridging the gap and advocating for each. Increased participation from both will surely improve the PGR student experience and the SU’s ability to support that.
What is the most important change you want to make this year? This year I’d like to get more PGRs involved with the SU and general student body. This will help with the sense of community and belonging as PGR’s are often more isolated. Regular social and academic/professional events can help with this.
Hobbies and interests: I enjoy reading books, DIY crafts and listening to music.
