Ashton Mallard
What are you studying?
I am studying physics with a foundation year (currently in my foundation year)
Where is your hometown?
My hometown is Solihull, in Birmingham
How would family and friends describe you?
Funny, kind, and enthusiastic
What inspired you to become a PTO?
Last year I was the trans and non-binary officer and I really enjoyed it. I was supported in my campaigns and got to help students. There is still more I want to do, and I love it so much, so here I am again.
What is your main aim as an PTO?
My priorities for the year are to create resources and better signposting for trans and non-binary students and related topics. I also wish to ensure all training is up to date with LGBTQ+ information and offer more training for staff and international students specifically based around trans and non-binary identities. Further I plan to push the SU to order more pronoun pins and make sure they are the best design to be clear and inclusive.
What are your hobbies?
I love making jokes and making people laugh. I skateboard (not that well) and I love art, specifically oil paint portraiture. I also love dogs and will happily look at puppy photos all day!
